Physical therapy mission statement
In every endeavor that is undertaken, it is but wise to believe that it stems from an idea that was later transformed into a workable system that delivers a quality result. The discipline of physical therapy is of no exception to this particular flow of events. This idea that started the transformation is summarized in a group of text called physical therapy mission statement. The role of physical therapy mission statement is very crucial in the determination and standardization of the services rendered by an institution. The philosophy or idealism where the principles of a particular physical therapy institution is anchored, is ultimately summarized and displayed in its physical therapy mission statement. In other words, physical therapy mission statement is simply the text embodiment of the physical therapy institutions’ purpose and aspirations. Physical therapy mission statement can also be considered as an advertising slogan. Although its main objective is to promote awareness on the purpose and aspirations of the physical therapy institution that possesses it, it is also an effective way of making people notice of the institutions’ presence and the quality of the services that this institution provides. Once the prospect clients recognize the meaning conveyed in the physical therapy mission statement of the institution concerned, it is expected that the demand for the services rendered will also increase- which as a result, will make the physical therapy institution relatively more marketable. For every physical therapy institution, there is a certain “priority” philosophy or idealism that is followed. For instance, one may focus on its use of advanced technological equipments, another would boast of its traditional approach such as ancient massage techniques, and still another may highlight its stance for a holistic approach… and so on. This particular strength that a physical therapy institution recognizes as existent and implemented is ultimately expressed in its physical therapy mission statement. It is therefore imperative that the physical therapy mission statement is unique applicable for every physical therapy institution. The extent with which one can measure the degree of necessity and role of a physical therapy mission statement is ultimately dependent on the conviction of the physical therapy institution that owns it. For an outsider, this is may just be considered as a simple cluster of texts. However, for those who are governed by the principles and idealism conveyed in this group of texts, it is considered as the heart of the institution. The physical therapy mission statement reflects the character of the physical therapy institution that adheres to it. Be it a just a phrase or a group of sentences, it nevertheless plays the vital role of inculcating a lasting impression.

Working with bipolar disorder
Bipolar disorder is one mood disorder that can disrupt every aspect of a person’s life. In most cases, if untreated, bipolar disorder can impair normal functioning as well as affect relationships. This significant impact is primarily due to the erratic moods which are characteristic of bipolar disorder. The patient swings between polar opposites – mania and depression. Each mood episode lasts for abnormal amounts of time and affects behaviour in typical ways. A person with bipolar disorder experiencing mania will feel euphoric, overly optimistic, indulge in reckless behaviour and impulsive acts, have decreased sleep, rapid speech and thought, and in severe cases, hallucinations and delusions. In depression the person is overly tired and lethargic, pessimistic, irritable, aggressive, increased sleep, lowered self worth and in severe cases, suicidal ideation. Considering the range of behaviours that bipolar disorder signifies, one of the areas of functioning most affected is the work area. Working with bipolar disorder gets very difficult due to these moods shifts and the varied behaviour. One of the chief impediments of working with bipolar disorder is regulating a normal sleep cycle. In a manic episode the person feels no need to sleep and over extended periods of time, this can erode the ability to maintain concentration and attention. This is often a liability at work as it may impair reasoning and normal functioning. Working with bipolar disorder is also tricky because in a manic episode the person feels very optimistic and becomes very impulsive. This is likely to result in rash decisions which may be badly chosen – not something employers are looking for. Apart from this there is the likelihood of engaging in inappropriate sexual behaviour which is cause for legal action. In severe cases, working with bipolar disorder becomes worse because the person experiences hallucinations and delusion. These are psychotic symptoms and can make the person feel persecuted at work, make decisions that ‘someone’ told them to, see or hear things etc. These are not behaviours any employer is looking for. Working with bipolar disorder during a depressive episode is also equally taxing. To begin with the person is extremely lethargic and tired and coming to work itself may be a burden. This may lead to several absences which may not be appreciated. In a depressive episode the person is also more irritable and aggressive and can lead to difficulties with work colleagues. Working with bipolar disorder in a depressive episode also gets difficult because self worth is very low and there is indecisiveness which leads to low confidence. Finally, if the above behaviours were not difficult to handle in a work place, in severe cases there is the likelihood of hallucinations, delusions and suicidal ideations. All these can be extremely volatile and make it difficult for the person to function normally.

It is believed that these points have direct access to arouse the
imaginary channels called Meridians that leads to the flow of energy.
Each body is estimated to have as much as three hundred and sixty
suitable points for acupuncture. When these points are suitably
stimulated, it causes an interruption in the flow of energy. This gives
rise to an analgesic effect that reduces or even eliminates pain in the
body. This interruption stimulates stronger flow of energy in the body
and heals a variety of diseases. The acupuncture points are categorized
according to their functions. One of these categories is the five
transporting point system. This system explains about the flow of
energy within a body comparing it to rivers that merge into an ocean.
It explains that energy bubbles from a spring, growing in breadth and
depth. The transporting system has 5 points namely, Jing well, Shu
stream, Ying spring, He sea and Jing river. The Jing well refers to the
energy level when it bubbles. These are situated at the tips of the
fingers and toes. The Shu stream refers to the intermittent diseases
causing painful joints and heaviness to the body. The Ying spring
refers to the energy at a point where it glides into the channel and
this represents the body heat and also exhibits the change in the
complexion of a person. He sea points refers to the point where energy
unites deep into the body and is an indication of diarrhea. The Jing
river refers to the points giving indications of cough and cold.
Acupuncture point diagram displays the parts of the body that can be
punctured even during a complimentary session of treatment. This
diagram points out the specific place of positive energy flowing in the
body of a person. Locating these points with the help of this diagram
helps in the energy flow and accordingly a person can be treated and
relieved from disorders or ailments that they are diagnosed with. The
diagram helps an acupuncturist to identify the pressure points and to
